Huawei, Intel plan cloud services for telecoms
Huawei Technologies Co., and Intel Corp. plan to provide cloud computing services to telecommunication carriers.
The collaboration expands an existing alliance between the Chinese telecom giant and the American chip maker.
Intel and Huawei will develop new server, data centre, software, cyber security and cloud computing services for carriers around the world. There are already a host of American firms working with Chinese partners despite the cold relationship between the governments of both countries. The list includes Cisco, Dell, IBM, Juniper, HP and Microsoft.
China’s public cloud computing market was estimated at $717 million in 2014 and is increasing at a rate of 46.7 per cent annually. Read more here
Cisco expands big data portfolio
Cisco has established resale agreements with Cloudera, Hortonworks and MapR for the Apache Hadoop data management technologies to boost its offerings of hardware, software and services geared towards big data analytics
Cisco said the new agreement will provide customers and partners with: simplified computing provisioning for Hadoop; agile, simple and pervasive data; a streamlined consumption model; and an opportunity to tap into the big data market.
BitTorrent’s Sync exits beta
Sync, a private cloud system from the BitTorrent file sharing protocol is now available. Sync allows users to securely share files across a various PCs, mobile devices and NAS platforms.
It encrypts the files and folders being shared between devices and users. Sync works with various operating systems such as Windows, Windows Phone, OS X, iOS, Android, Fire OS, Linux and Free BSD. Find out more
Ericsson debuts new cloud platform
Hyperscale Datacentre System 8000 is Ericsson’s new cloud platform which was debuted at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona.
HDS 8000 uses Intel’s Rack Scale Architecture. Ericsson said the platform is designed to allow two system types to work together through an open software platform.
Google Cloud Pub/Sub
Google has launched the first public beta of its backend messaging service called Cloud Pub/Sub.
The service is a messaging middleware in the cloud that enables developers to rapidly transmit information between apps wherever they may be hosted. It is meant to make it easier for developers to send and receive messages between machines and to collect data from smart devices.
