Scientific Games unveils new technology for lotto retailers

New York-based Scientific Games Corp. announced Monday a new system that aims to provide service and support to thousands of lottery retailers across North America.

The Smart Services Management System allows GPS-enabled handhelds to integrate with an automated route management and dispatching system to provide enhanced support to lottery retailers. The company said the field service automation and dispatching technology will allow it’s over 300 field service technicians to address the needs of more than 50,000 lottery outlets in the U.S. and Canada. The system provides the service information in real-time to technicians via their cell phones.

Scientific Games, a lottery ticket terminal and system supplier, teamed up with Horsham, Pa.-based Astea International Inc., a lifecycle management service provider, to create the system. Both companies said it will improve efficiency and standardize field service in the lottery industry.
