Toronto university launches new digital internships

Toronto-based OCAD University has announced a new paid internship program to give students and graduates in its digital programs more opportunities for real world learning beyond the classroom.

The program will offer six-month paid internships to 15 grads and 11 current graduate students of OCAD University’s Digital Futures, Inclusive Design, Industrial Design and Environmental Design programs. To qualify for a graduate internship, alumni must have graduated from one of those programs within the past five years.

The students and alumni must be placed in the internships at participating companies by March 31, 2014. Firms accepted for participation will receive up to $15,000 for each internship position and must also match that amount.

The program will be administered by OCAD University and Mitacs Enterprise, a non-profit research and training organization which is funded by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev).

OCAD focuses on art and design in a number of fields including digital media, photography, print making, sculpture, drawing and painting.
