Rogers Communications today announced that it is expanding LTE coverage to 44 more locations across Canada with the intention of making LTE spectrum band available to a total of 95 markets in 2013.
Subscribers in all the markets will have access to the telecom provider’s 2600 MHz LTE spectrum and 34 of the 44 new LTE locations will be capable of “maximum theoretical speeds” of up to 150 Mbps, according to a statement from Rogers.
Among the 44 LTE markets launching this spring are: Saint John, N.B.; Medicine Hat, Alta.; Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.; Guelph, Ont.; Muskoka, Ont.; Collingwood, Ont.; and several cities in Quebec.

Rogers and competing providers Telus Corp. and Bell Mobility periodically release announcements about the expansion of their respective LTE networks. For instance, Rogers in October last year said it had expanded its LTE network to 18 markets. Last February, Telus reported that its LTE network has expanded to 14 cities across Canada. Earlier this month, Telus also brought its LTE services to Saint John.
Rogers today said it has the largest selection of LTE devices of any carrier in the country and that it will roll out more 2600-enabled smart phones in the coming months, according to John Boyton, EVP and chief marketing officer for Rogers.
Among the devices are the LG Optimus G 2600, the Rocket Stick, Rocket Hub and Rocket Mobile Hotspot.
