OpenText Corp. recently released two products aimed at helping organizations that deal heavily in digital assets transmission gain better control over digital files.
The company, last month, rolled out an update to its digital asset management solution, Media Management 7.2 and introduced the OpenText Portal for Media Management.
The media portal allows users to build branded sites for their media consumers who may not necessarily be involved in the management of site content. It is an out-of-the-box solution designed for distributing content that is linked to the Media Management tool.
“Each day, entertainment and media companies face delays caused by inefficient DAM and slow, unreliable file sharing technologies,” said Price. “These costly delays cut through the bottom line.”
With the growing amount of video, audio and images from an increasing number of devices, many organizations are a hard time categorizing these digital assets and retrieving the content they want in a timely manner, according to Price.

Transmitting such files between departments using file transfer protocol (FTP) or hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) can take hours while shipping content contained in hard drives could take days and pose a security risk where intellectual property is concerned.
“The main mission of Media Management 7.2 is to coral all the digital assets in one place, provide management capability over it so that users can categorize the content and make searches possible in a matter of minutes rather than days,” said Price.
The embedded OpenText Managed File Transfer technology in Media management 7.2 also provides flexible auto resume and audit track features to ensure the integrity of files. Its workflow engine automates repetitive tasks and provides task assigning, task status updates and notification.
The product’s central repository enables users to manage, organize, search, audit and track digiotal assets and create reports.
