Litigation is in the air. Just last week, Apple emerged victorious after a California court found that Samsung was guilty of infringing its patents. And now, it seems as though Motorola has unsuccessfully sued Apple for the very same thing. Motorola has a certain longevity in the wireless business, and it is arguing that Apple built some of its own products based on older Motorola technology.
What made the battle especially significant was the fact that Google now owns Motorola, meaning that the two of the largest players in the smart phone and tablet industry had to duke it out. In an extremely competitive marketplace one can imagine more such battles taking place as the line between building on a good idea and infringing a patent becomes blurred.
