There’s been no shortage of talk about big data (aka Big Data) in the past year, but is there more than talk?
Maybe not, according to a survey of 12 international CIOs. The raw numbers suggest organizations talk a lot about big data but aren’t putting money into projects mining unstructured data.
Despite the small sample size, there are some representative opinions. For example, one CIO is quoted worrying about the scale of a potential project, another about the potential cost. On the other hand another panel member said there’s no such thing as big data – all corporate data needs to be analyzed.
