LAS VEGAS – HP Discover is the first user conference where Hewlett-Packard Co. has brought its formerly disparate software and hardware businesses and conferences together, and the move highlights one of the vendor’s key strategies to helping IT managers cope with the changing demands of the modern enterprise: converged infrastructure.
HP sees a key value differentiator in being one of the few vendors that can design and offer an open-standards IT infrastructure form the data centre servers, storage and software all the way out to endpoint devices such as desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. With infrastructure converging, HP sees the ability to offer a seamless IT infrastructure from one end to the other as giving it an advantage around interoperability and agility that other vendors can’t match.
At Discover, HP talked a lot about how cloud computing and the need for the agile “instant-on enterprise” is changing the demands and the job of the modern IT manager. IT World Canada’s Jeff Jedras sat down with Bill Veghte, HP’s executive vice-president, services and solutions, to discuss the evolving demands faced by today’s IT manager and what HP is doing to help them out.
