CMO, IBM WATSON GROUP
Matt Friedman is currently the CMO for IBM’s Watson Group and is responsible for building the Watson brand globally. Prior to this role, Matt was Vice President of Marketing & Communications for IBM Growth Markets unit and was responsible for leading over 2000 marketing and communications professionals across all brands in Asia, Latin America, Middle East, Africa and Central and Eastern Europe. Before this role he lead business development for IBM Software in the Growth Markets and focused on the go to market for all software acquisitions.
Before joining the GMU in Summer of 2009, Matt was WW VP of Strategy, Marketing and Channels for IBM’s Systems and Technology Group with a focus on Small and Medium Business. Matt has also been a worldwide marketing executive in IBM Global Services, with a focus on developing the hosting and managed services business.
Prior to joining IBM in 2001, Matt helped found a boutique management consulting firm focused on new product development, brand positioning and segmentation and led global projects for Citibank, J&J, AT&T, Colgate-Palmolive and JP Morgan. Matt helped lead the sale of the consulting firm to CKS Group in 1996, which grew to become MarchFirst the largest web integrator in the world in the late 1990’s.
